I hope to list more of these soon. The last batch was damaged by the U.S. Postal Service, and about half were "unsellable". I actually gave them away at my last monthly art show. I do have about 8 with minor wrinkles or other minor issues, and 2 good ones. The blemish ones will be about $35-40 each....

I don't think I have any scrolls like this, but I do have some portraits. I will probably contact the artist in another month or so and have him start on a new batch. Each one is different, so it's hard to say what I will get (I let the artist be an artist, so I just give him some rough ideas of the...

I can get some of these for you, but almost all of them are "prints" - actually "half prints". The detail black lines tend to be printed (in the old days, using a wood block, but currently by printing press), and then someone hand-paints in all the color and some of the face details. I only sell 100...

If I understand what you are talking about, I would use contact cement (made by Weldwood). You spread a thin coat on both sides, let it dry, and then press it together while pulling it tight. Having a hard rubber roller would also help (all this stuff can be found at Home Depot). Practice first with...

We don't actually do any prints (everything we sell is hand painted). However, I do have a request in with the artist (Mr. Ou-Yang) for a couple more horse paintings with that general appearance. I expect them to be mounted and transported to the USA by January. If you are in a rush, and want a barg...

You may want to contact Syukado Japanese Art Gallery . I believe they handle pieces like this, but expect to pay no less than US$2000 for such a wall scroll. Once you enter the website, there is a link to some English information. They publish a catalog on a quarterly-basis. I don't know much else a...

I'm waiting for my Japanese translator to lay his eyes on this. We specialize in Chinese (with in-house Chinese experts on staff), and my Japanese is getting rusty. This request has been sent to the artist. At light-speed, it would take a month. Expect more like two. We just got a big batch from the artist, so this will kind of be a special order, where we'll need to find time to pick them up special (she's in west Beijing, and we're in the east - it's a two ho...

Italian Customs on the ramage...

We send about 3-4 packages to Italy each month. Lately (September - November 2007) we've had a lot of delays due to the Italian Customs Bureau. For whatever reason, packages just sit there for 2-3 weeks after arrival on Italian soil. We are monitoring this problem closely, and are considering adding...

I just glanced at your order without checking the contents of your order.

Custom Chinese calligraphy does day about 3 weeks.

So the ship date won't be Monday for that, but your orders will be combined.

More than 100 ways to write Sword in Chinese and Japanese

Different calligraphy styles in Chinese and Japanese can be compared to some of the Old English calligraphy styles. If you are not familiar with them, some of them can be hard to decipher, even if English is your first language. Then add to that all of the variations of what we call "cursive" in Eng...

These bamboo-slate scrolls are pretty cool, and not that common. However, many of them are actually prints (mechanically-reproduced) versus being hand-painted. They are also artificially-aged to make them appear to be antiques. I am not saying that yours falls into this category, but rather that you...

These are probably going to have to wait until my next trip to China. I need to head south to Guilin (this artist lives in a village near there). I've lost track of him, so I literally need to go find him personally.

Hopefully that will happen before/during the Spring.

Most of our artwork is actually on xuan paper, but has a silk border. The largest size xuan paper that is 135cm x 68cm (add a 5cm to 10cm border all the way around for the final measurements). Thicker paper for Philosphy Artwork - also larger sizes!

I am actually making an effort to present them on a really thick paper like we used to (four or five years ago). They are created on traditional, handmade xuan paper. Years ago, the artist had an artwork mounter who would laminate the paintings to a few more sheets of xuan. Well, that mounter left t...

Custom Plum Blossom Artwork and Artists

I think this is one I actually commissioned, but I was not happy with the result. I virtually gave it away to someone I know that sells really cheap (aka Tourist Trash) artwork in Beijing. It just wasn't good enough for our gallery. I'm transitioning to a different artist for most of our plum blosso...
