professional artist in need of ongoing scroll mounting

Post by PAREMHWAH » Jan 31, 2014 4:48 pm

I had several paintings (sent to) mounted in Beijing through my Chinese teacher/painting group while in Maryland. I loved the mounting. I am no longer in Maryland, and the teacher is not teaching anymore. I have my own painting/workshop business in Connecticut now. I would like to be able to mount my new paintings. I have sent you some pictures of my artwork below. Thank you for what you do! www.paremhwah.com

I read the procedure you recommend for sending the artwork to Beijing. I hope we can work together soon.

Sure, I can mount these. Can you give me the accurate widths of the paper? I need that to set these up and properly price them.

Is it just these two, or do you have more? If more, please post those images here, so I can do them all in one batch.

Cheers,
-Gary.

If I send paintings in batches to be mounted, do I save money on shipping etc.? Here are some dimensions : small 13"x27" / medium 20"x27" / large 25"x37".

My sizes and prices work this way:

Medium = up to 33cm (13") wide paper = $32.88 for basic wall scroll - single-color silk brocade.
Large = up to 50cm (19.75") wide paper = $49.88
Jumbo = up to 68cm (26.75) wide paper = $67.88

The best value is the medium size. If you have a choice, do most of your artwork on a 33cm (13") wide piece of xuan paper. I can get 35 wall scrolls of this size into a #1 China Post box. So it can cost me as little as $7 each to get them to the USA. The larger sizes are shipped in special boxes, with extra postage for the package length/volume. This often costs $17-$24 each to get them to the USA. That should explain a lot of the price difference beyond the extra materials and labor for the larger sizes.

Try to keep your paper under 20" so I can charge you the large price instead of jumbo. Typical artwork trimming during mounting may take care of that anyway.

If you are doing a batch of 3 or more, you definitely get free return shipping from China. Any order over $88 right now means I pay for the shipping.

However, postage to get your artwork to Beijing will be up to you. But also, the larger the batch, the more you save on that as well.

Cheers,
-Gary.

Thank you for the pricing info. That is very helpful. I will be in touch soon about sending 3 paintings.
