Repairing silk screen

Post by recovered1 » Dec 5, 2007 1:25 pm

I have a beautiful silk screen that folds and is in 4 sections, 3 ft high. One section tore away from the next. I tried Elmer's glue and made it worse. Would epoxy work? I just want it together again. I don't care if it won't fold. Please help!
Thnaks SO much!

If I understand what you are talking about, I would use contact cement (made by Weldwood). You spread a thin coat on both sides, let it dry, and then press it together while pulling it tight. Having a hard rubber roller would also help (all this stuff can be found at Home Depot).

Practice first with a piece of scrap cloth and a piece of wood.

Good luck,
-Gary.
